Lip service can be a great anti-aging fix. Volume can be replaced; lines above and to the sides of the mouth can be reduced. So why do some women end up with sausages for lips? “The art of using fillers is to provide balance—40 percent of the upper lip and 60 percent of the bottom lip,” says Dr. Timothy Greco, whose practice is based in Bala Cynwyd. Other mistakes: filling only the top lip, and creating full lips where none existed. “Respect the normal anatomy of the lips’ shape,” Greco says. “Changing the face’s natural symmetry results in a fake-looking appearance. Better to be subtle and beautiful than overtreated and unattractive.”
