Kathy Romano, Conshohocken
On-air personality, 93.3 WMMR’s Preston & Steve Show; founder, Fresh Smiles Foundation
Shore destination: Sea Isle City, N.J.
Facts: Romano grew up spending summers in Montauk, N.Y. She started hitting the Jersey Shore after college, when she met her husband.
Eating out: “We usually ride our bikes to Sunset Pier (86th Street, Sea Isle City, 609-263-5200, sunsetpiersic.com), a small restaurant that looks out over the bay. We enjoy the outside seating option while checking out all the boats docked there. I spend as much time as possible on the beach, so my favorite lunch spot is one that delivers to the beach. “La Fontana Coast (5000 Landis Ave., Sea Isle City, 609-486-6088, lafontanacoast.com) is my favorite BYOB. The gnocchi in white sauce is my favorite. Get there early, because it gets packed and has a very long wait.”
Eating in: “For dinner, we usually keep it casual with Circle Pizza (2108 Dune Drive, Avalon, 609-967-7566, avalonpizza.com) on the deck at our house. “I don’t eat seafood, so you’ll notice none of my favorite places include seafood restaurants. The Real Enchilada (224 21st St., Avalon, 609-967-8226) is the best takeout—my entire family will order seafood, and I’ll go pick up a burrito.”
Traditions: “A morning run on the beach, then iced coffee from Nickelby’s (8301 Landis Ave., Sea Isle City, 609-263-1184).”
Kids’ stuff: “My favorite place to take my nephews and little cousins for ice cream is The Cool Side of Blitz’s (86th Street and Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City, 609-263-3149).”
Rainy-day distraction: “Shopping, of course—from Ocean City all the way to Stone Harbor.”
Place to grab a drink: “My favorite spot to grab a beer is Twisties (232 S. Bayview Drive, Strathmere, 609-263-2200, twistiestavern.com). It reminds me of the little bars that the fishermen frequent in Montauk, and it serves my favorite beer: Corona Light.”
Shopping: “Moxie Boutique (306 96th St., Stone Harbor, 609-368-2150), because I’m obsessed with bathing suits, and I buy several a year there. I never wear the same suit twice in one visit to the Shore.”
