Major concern for adults 65+: Alzheimer’s disease
Every 67 seconds, someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s. More than 5 million Americans are living with the disease—almost two-thirds of them women. Know the signs: memory loss, trouble making plans or solving problems, difficulty completing familiar tasks, confusion with time or place, trouble understanding images, poor judgment, social withdrawal.
Preventative Screenings
Breast cancer: Annual mammograms.
Osteoporosis: Annually for women, beginning at age 65.
Colorectal cancer: A colonoscopy every 10 years or a flexible sigmoidoscopy every five years.
Prostate cancer: Depending on PSA levels, a blood test for men every one to two years.
Glaucoma: Testing every one to two years.
