Power Women: JoAnn Magnatta

Twenty-one of the Main Line’s most successful and influential women share their secrets to success.

Main Line Health System has witnessed a tremendous growth spurt in the past decade or so—and JoAnn Magnatta has had a hand in most of it. As senior vice president of facilities design and construction, Magnatta has overseen projects at four acute-care hospitals, one rehab facility, a drug and alcohol treatment center, and various affiliated entities. She’s also responsible for the acquisition, disposition, development and management of all real estate ventures, medical office buildings and ancillary facilities.

“We’re moving Main Line Health into the future in a difficult healthcare environment,” says the Villanova University alum, who lives in Blue Bell.

Magnatta also serves as chair for the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women initiative, working to foster awareness of heart disease in females. “When I started 26 years ago, there might have been one or two women among several hundred men at our conferences,” she says. “Even now, there still aren’t enough of us, in my opinion.”
