Take a room or suite in the main house—or stay in one of the adjacent cabins, which come with Jacuzzis and gas fireplaces. You’ll have access to all of the family-centric recreational facilities and activities, including the indoor pool, tennis, and tot lot available at nearby Lake Naomi Club, a private community. A full country breakfast is included with your stay.

Drive time: About two hours.

Rates: Lodge rooms $140 weekdays, $160 weekends (double occupancy); suites $190-$210 weekdays, $215-$230 weekends. Cabin suites are $215-$225 weekdays, $250-$260 weekends.

Where to eat: Dine with the locals at the private Lake Naomi Clubhouse. Specialties include roast duck with Chambord sauce and veal scaloppini roulade ($17-$25). You can also get sandwiches ($9-$12.50) and brick-oven pizzas ($8-$11).
