Rennie Grafstein can’t quite believe her Ardmore store is celebrating its first anniversary next month. Since last May, Nurture has been the place to find the latest clothes, accessories and toys for little ones from newborns to preschoolers. Aside from must-have staples like super-soft Little Giraffe blankets and Bugaboo strollers, Grafstein stocks many environmentally conscious items.
“When I had my daughter six years ago, there were so many great products out there that weren’t available in our area,” she says. “I wanted to bring them to one location in our community.”
Clothing lines from Zutano, Petit Bateau and Tea Collection are all formaldehyde- free. Handmade toys from Maple Landmark Woodcraft and child-development products from Plan Toys are also among Nurture’s green inventory. And moms will find a number of organic herbal skin- and body-care options from the wildly popular Earth Mama Angel Baby collection.
The store is also a great resource for parents, offering classes and seminars on various topics. Nurture’s Mom’s Group encourages socializing and participation in discussions facilitated by professionals. Art and music classes are popular with the younger set, and Grafstein even hosts kids’ birthday parties.
“I wanted Nurture to be both a store and an educational place where parents and kids would want to keep coming back,” she says.
