Malvern’s Blue Octagon Is a Different Sort of Home Store

Berwyn designer Krissa Wichser brings her personal style to the new business.

A former casualty of the down economy, local home stores are rebounding throughout the area. Of particular note is The Blue Octagon. Berwyn’s Krissa Wichser is the visionary behind the new Malvern design, décor and gift boutique. For months before the opening, she wisely teased via Instagram all the goodies she’d be offering. “This store is a reflection of my favorite things,” says Wichser, who’s run an interior-decorating business under the same name for several years. “I’m carrying a lot of different styles and price points, but I’ve made sure the collection has a cohesive look.”

Highlights include Society Social’s Sedgewick bar cart, Taylor Burke Home’s Kings Grant chair, Dunes and Duchess’ Drink Drop cocktail table and Parker Kennedy Living’s chinoiserie-style desk. The boutique also offers a wide selection of mirrors and artwork. And there’s plenty of other treats—like jewelry from Candy Shop Vintage, White Moss and Addison Weeks, plus Erin Shaffer handbags and stationery from Haute Papier and Sugar Paper.
