Seasonal Suds

Now that summer’s revealing bathing-suit weather is behind us, it’s time to abandon light beer and indulge in a more robust, fall-inspired brew. May we suggest Pumpkinfest from McKenzie Brew House (

Available through the end of October, brewmaster Ryan Michaels’ spicy ale blends fresh, mashed pumpkin, allspice, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, hops and barley—all of it delivered with a 5.5-percent kick. A McKenzie special for several years, this robust concoction goes well with a variety of seasonal fare, including chili, ribs, smoked pork chops, creamy cheesecakes, cool-weather fruit pies, gingerbread, and carrot or apple cake.

Other McKenzie brews that pair well with the season: Unicorn Amber Ale, an English-style brown ale with a caramel aroma, and silky-smooth Black Lab Stout, with hints of chocolate and coffee.

Our Best of the Main Line Elimination Ballot is open through February 22!
