Green Bio
As chef/owner of Cucina Verde in Glenmoore, Cantrell offers cooking classes for adults and weeklong camps for kids. It’s all about proving how simple (and delicious) preparing “real” farmer’s food can be.
Green Innovation
Cantrell’s work focuses on educating others and inspiring them to eat seasonally, locally and organically. “Aside from sourcing food, there’s great importance in how it’s prepared, so that our bodies can utilize the nutrients,” she says. “These are lessons taken from our ancestors.”
Bragging Rights
Cantrell’s work includes personal-chef services, catering and cooking education. She’s most interested in the health of children, especially those with autism. She’s also involved with GMO Free PA, a start-up organization that advocates labels on genetically engineered foods, and It Takes a Village Baby Consultants, which focuses on new parents and growing families.
Green Dreams
Individuals growing their own food on their own lawns, reducing dependency on large food corporations; townships allowing backyard chickens; everyone sourcing their food locally, with the production of GMOs banned throughout the area; zero use of pesticides.
