Famed New York designer Adam Lippes could’ve chosen any major city in the country as the site of his third ADAM boutique. To the delight of Main Line women, he chose Bryn Mawr.
Lippes has a history with the Main Line. “Going to Cornell, I visited friends at the University of Pennsylvania and Villanova, and grew very fond of Philadelphia and the surrounding area,” says Lippes, whose other boutiques are in New York City and Williamsville, N.Y. “When we found this store, it seemed like a perfect fit.”
The 33-year-old designer began his fashion career working with Polo Ralph Lauren before moving on to Oscar de la Renta. His dream of one day designing his own line began successfully with a collection of men’s T-shirts and polos and other luxury basics made from Peru’s finest cotton. They sold well at high-end boutiques and department stores like Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus.
Some of the line can be found at ADAM, but the majority of the inventory is dedicated to the women’s collection, which features silk mini- and maxi-dresses, halter jumpers in linen denim, double-layered tanks in crinkle chiffon, and draped tops in silk
georgette—most with details like open shoulders and embroidered necklines.
And once you get a glimpse of ADAM’s fall collection, it’ll make you long for chillier weather.
