In 2014, Conshohocken held its first beer festival. That same year, the first modern-day brewery opened, along with the Below Deck Bottle Shop, downstairs at Flanigan’s Boathouse.
With the addition of Below Deck, Flanigan’s Boathouse has established itself as the craft-beer destination in Conshohocken. The Boathouse offers over 40 drafts, and Below Deck adds another 350-plus bottles and cans to the table. The draft lines never stop rotating, and some of the most sought-after limited-edition beers can be found in the bottle shop.
Below Deck manager Chris Evangelist sees the craft-beer scene as constantly evolving. “The momentum craft beer has gained has resulted in large-scale and grocery-store beer outlets,” he says. “Those types of outlets are beginning to make craft beer impersonal. We strive to keep the true spirit of craft beer alive by offering a personable and knowledgeable experience in our shop.”
