It all started 20 years ago with the fiendishly good fried chicken. On Friday nights, Cafette featured this salty, crispy-skinned specialty. But it wasn’t long before the classic vegetable lasagna and cheesy, grits-filled poblano peppers garnered their own followings, making this low-key eatery nestled in a residential block of Chestnut Hill an all-around charmer. In warmer months, the garden patio is a prime spot.
