The scoop: Kent Island, right at the foot of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, is known as the “Gateway” to Maryland’s Eastern Shore. It’s a peaceful place, perfect for getting in touch with the area’s natural beauty by bike or boat and experiencing the freshest bay-to-table specialties.
Amenities: Some of the suites have fireplaces and/or large balconies. If you want both, ask for the Sunset Suite. The inn’s spa offers a full range of relaxing and rejuvenating services. An on-site restaurant serves locally caught seafood and features live music on Friday nights. There’s also a café for breakfast and lunch.
Don’t miss: Rent a kayak at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center just east of Kent Island, and paddle out on Marshy Creek, the Narrows and Prospect Bay to view wading birds and waterfowl. Guided kayak tours are also available.
