The Borough of West Chester celebrates its 225th anniversary in grand style this winter. Coming up on Friday, December 6 at 6:30 p.m., the annual Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony is ready to kick off the season with an abundance of community support and family fun.
Parade organizers, the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, expect over 20,000 spectators to line the streets of downtown for an all-star lineup of performers including local Olympians, the 2024 Mummers Champion String Band, 13-foot-tall balloon floats and a marching band competition featuring 12 additional award-winning marching bands. The night is led by returning emcees 6ABC meteorologist Adam Joseph and WMMR’s Kathy Romano of The Preston & Steve Show. The festivities culminate when Santa himself arrives down Gay Street on a parade float.
“The West Chester Christmas Parade always feels like a ‘big city’ spectacle in a small town, and this year we’re able to provide even more next-level performances to our residents and visitors thanks to the support of more than 150 local businesses and nonprofits. Expect a first-class show!” enthuses Katie Walker, president of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce.
The Christmas Parade is just the first event of many during Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester.
Best of all, and exclusively released to Main Line Today readers, are a bevy of special deals throughout the day from shops local to the borough.
