The scoop: The tiny town of Ocean Grove packs a lot of beauty and history into one square mile. Located between Sandy Hook to the north and Atlantic City to the south, it has a lovely, quiet beach and the highest concentration of authentic Victorian architecture in the country. Built in 1872, the seven-guestroom Sea Spray Inn is one of these beautifully maintained buildings.
Amenities: A three-course breakfast is included with your stay. East- and south-facing rooms have ocean or lake views. The second-floor master bedroom and the third-floor Sea Breeze Room have both.
Don’t miss: A guided history tour of Ocean Grove. On June 30, there’s a special Women’s History Tour with costumed reenactors. Or bring your favorite wine or beer to Sips & Serendipity, a three-hour themed painting class at Main Avenue Galleria & School of Art on Fridays, Saturdays and some Sundays.
