The scoop: Hidden Valley offers a variety of skiing and snowboarding on 26 trails and slopes on over 110 acres. Kids 3-12 can participate in the resort’s Rippers Adventure Club, which offers half- and full-day ski/snowboard lessons and practice with groups their own age. For a downhill thrill that requires no experience or lessons, try snow tubing. A three- or four-day Highlands Ticket covers skiing and snowboarding at Hidden Valley and the nearby Seven Springs and Laurel Mountain resorts.

Amenities: Inn suites include a living room and fireplace, and overnight stays include continental breakfast. Some accommodations are pet friendly. The on-site Trillium Spa offers individual and couple’s massage treatments and packages.
