MLTJ Destination: Ocean City, Maryland

This beach town offers fresh seafood and plenty of fun.

Megan Rogers of Garnet Valley recently traveled to Ocean City for a summer vacation, breaking with her usual tradition of going to the New Jersey shore. Here, she shares her favorite parts of her trip and suggestions for fellow travelers.

About her trip: In August, I was able to take a week’s break in Ocean City with my significant other. We had wonderful weather, not one day of rain! There was a ton to do, from restaurants to mini golf to ice cream parlors to shops. We were never bored. Ocean City is a very family oriented town and I would highly suggest traveling there for a summer vacation.

Restaurants: De Lazy Lizard (305 N. First St.). There salads are enormous. Not to mention the most fresh, lump crabmeat you’ve ever tasted. Ocean City Brewing Company (5509 Coastal Highway). They’re new, they make all of their food in house and they have their own brewing, distilling and wine. Warren’s Station (1406 Ocean Highway, Fenwick Island) is one of the original places in Fenwick and they have amazing crab cakes and seafood.

Sea Bay Hotel

Accommodations: Sea Bay Hotel (6007 Coastal Highway). It was great for the time spent. Clean, friendly service and a perfect location. Ask to be on the top floor for excellent sunset views.

Sea Rocket Adventures

Experience: Sea Rocket Adventures (308 N. First St.). The company offers a variety of water activities, including parasailing, banana boat rides and high speed rides on the “Sea Rocket.”

Bad Monkey Restaurant

Something you won’t find in guidebooks: Bad Monkey Restaurant (5801 Coastal Highway)—they advertise for their burgers and subs, but their breakfast is the best! It’s brand new, so not many people know about it yet.
