Chester Springs’ SALT Performing Arts teamed up with Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show Grounds for the performances.
When the pandemic hit earlier this year, Chester Springs theater SALT Performing Arts pivoted to virtual shows in an effort to continue bringing the community a medley of its usual high caliber performances. In response, it has since launched SALT Beyond the Walls, a drive-in style series on the Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show Grounds in Glenmoore. Upcoming shows will take place on July 24 and 25, featuring a “Kids on Broadway” themed night, and on Aug. 14 and 15, themed “Songs of the Silverscreen.”
“We’ve found that the community is eager for excellent live entertainment and are appreciative of the COVID-friendly atmosphere of a drive-in,” says SALT president and artistic director Lauren McComas.
The “Kids on Broadway” show will feature different performers each night belting out songs from popular Broadway classics including Matilda, Shrek, Into the Woods and Seussical.
Using a drive-in theater model, the shows will be viewed from attendees’ cars with audio aired over the radio. Concessions will also be available and delivered to each car. Tickets are $25 per carload and must be reserved in advance. In accordance with Gov. Tom Wolf’s gathering guidelines, only 70 cars will be permitted.
