Longwood Gardens transforms its grounds into a color-soaked paradise for the Orchid Extravaganza. The event features over 4,500 beautiful specimens throughout the conservatory, the Peirce-du Pont House and the visitor center.

Jan. 21

Walk the Moon officially went mainstream with their 2014 hit, “Shut Up and Dance.” After taking some time off so lead singer Nicholas Petricca could be with his father as he battled from Alzheimer’s, the band is back in action for the aptly named Press Restart Tour. Expect to hear songs from their new album, What If Nothing.

Thru. Jan. 27

You could say that the juror for Craft Forms 2017 is a rock star in her chosen vocation. Nora Atkinson is the Lloyd Herman Curator of Craft at the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery. And that bodes well for the selections in the 23rd international juried exhibition, which is dedicated to, among other things, enhancing the public’s awareness of contemporary craft.

It was particularly stormy summer that inspired Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Frankenstein & Dracula: Gothic Monsters/Modern Science explores the genesis of these masterful works, showcasing the books and documents that compelled these authors to envision their iconic monsters.
