» By now, former Daily News food scribe/editor April Lisante and her chef/baker husband, Christian Gatti, should be serving up provincial-Southern-French-meets-Northern-Italian fare in their new Bala Cynwyd restaurant, Avril (134 Bala Ave.). The sophisticated 50-seat BYO is a dream come true for these passionate culinary enthusiasts. Gatti has been into baking since he was a kid. He started at CC Orlando & Sons Bakery in Havertown, washing dishes and helping prepare cakes and bread, before honing his chops at City Tavern, White Dog Café and Audrey Claire Restaurant Café. Also on his résumé: a stint with consulting firm Concepts by Staib, which develops menus and trains staff for Sandals resorts and other big-name clients. Avril’s guests can expect fresh-baked bread and savory pastry appetizers, plus inventive, homestyle entrées, handmade pastas, and a daily selection of game, beef, veal and seafood. Appetizers are in the $8-$12 range, entrées about $22-$32.
