» “Let them eat cupcakes” is the motto at Cupcakes Gourmet, the Main Line’s first gourmet cupcake business. The brainchild of Maki Evans and Heather Carter, this Downingtown venture is quickly expanding Chester County waistlines. These sinful delicacies, in mouthwatering flavors such as dark chocolate mint, coconut almond and chai latté, are available at Sprazzo Café (West Chester), Milestone Café (Exton Mall) and online for $24/dozen at cupcakesgourmet.com.

» In case you missed the scandal, word surfaced that Whole Foods CEO John Mackey had been bad-blogging a competitor while praising his own company for more than eight years under a pseudonym. The irony? Said competitor was at the top of Mackey’s shopping list.

» This month, Lacroix chef Matthew Levin gives us another reason to shop at Di Bruno Bros.: a set of six exotic spice blends packaged in a handsome case with a dozen recipes. Highlights include chocolate chimichurri (great for enhancing wood chips and molés) and apricot flake salt from Australia.
