» Spence Café groupies will want to visit Butterfish (700 W. Nields St., 610-738-8800), the new West Chester BYO from Spence owner Andrew Patton. The chef is Don Maue (Spence, Duling-Kurtz House), whose New American dishes include house-smoked brisket, pork, chicken and fish. Figure on $8-$15 for lunch and $19-$29 for dinner.

» Sadly, Zanzibar Blue, one of the city’s best-known jazz venues (think big budget, big names), closed April 29 in response to a pending rent increase for their Bellevue (Broad and Walnut streets) digs.

» Fans of Global Dish Caterers’ innovative cuisine will be thrilled to hear that owners Mitch and Jennifer Prensky are opening their own restaurant in August. Dubbed Supper, the new venture will be located at the former Vespa shop on South Street.
