Since 2017, Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center has been Chester County’s home for world class performances. Reasonable ticket prices for Broadway style theater, live music, and renowned speakers make this West Chester stage a draw for residents throughout the tri-state region.
The theater strives to serve as the civic and cultural hub for the region by attracting the highest quality artists and scope of offerings ensuring artistic excellence, diverse programming, and sustainability.
Uptown! presents live music events in the upcoming season including Beginnings Chicago Tribute Band, Sail On Beach Boys Tribute Band, Jazz artist Cedric Napoleon of Pieces of a Dream and The First Ladies of Rock & Soul from nearby Delaware County.
Uptown’s resident companies include The Resident Theatre Company (RTC), which produces popular Broadway Productions like Cabaret and Into The Woods; The Jazz Cocktail Hour, featuring accomplished professionals who span jazz genres. Opera tutti!, aka “Opera for All,” creates accessible and comedic staged productions; Windish Music and Productions with a variety of live shows including Dueling Pianos; and Better than Bacon, performing interactive improv comedy.
West Chester Studio for the Performing Arts at Uptown! offers quarterly classes and camps taught by theater professionals. Acting, singing, improv and playwriting classes are offered along with private instruction for adults and children. Uptown! Speakers Series brings timely, enlightening, expert presenters and TedX West Chester offers additional ideas worth considering.
