To prescribe and produce a safe and effective allergy extract for a patient, the allergist must first conduct a series of skin tests that will identify the allergens that trigger the patient’s symptoms.  Next, the allergist will develop an extract prescription based on each patient’s skin testing results.

• The allergy extract prescription must be carefully balanced between efficacy and safety

Now here’s the balancing act.  The allergist must be experienced in prescribing an extract strength that is effective in gradually increasing your body’s tolerance to the allergens and provide relief of symptoms while at the same time not be so strong as to cause an allergic reaction. Once the prescription is developed, all extracts are produced here in our own extract lab under the strictest federal guidelines. Unlike others, we never outsource the production of allergy extracts to an outside company.  The allergists of Allergy & Asthma Specialists are involved in every step of the extract process, from testing, to ordering, to production.  All extract materials used in production are bar coded and electronically scanned while preparing each patient’s personalized prescription. This assures the exact match of extract components to the patient’s prescription, preventing any accidental prescription errors.
