This much-loved West Coast singer/songwriter is the latest aging rocker to get the tribute treatment, in the form of the excellent two-disc set, Looking Into You: A Tribute to Jackson Browne. But the guy’s not dead yet—and that distinctive voice has retained the same honeyed emotional weight that carries such ’70s classics as “The Pretender” and “Running on Empty,” plus more recent gems like “The Barricades of Heaven.” Browne’s 14th studio release, Standing in the Breach, is out Oct. 7.
