“Fashion active wear” would appear to be a contradiction in terms, conjuring up images of baggy sweats, too-tight stretch pants, oversized T-shirts and shorts that are absurdly, well, short. Now, along comes Lucy, which has Main Line women giddy over active wear that’s both trendy and comfortable—and never sloppy. “Lucy is centered around energy, activity and balance,” says Toni Keller, manager of the new Ardmore store. “Our mission is to offer beautifully designed lifestyle apparel that inspires women to live healthy, active, balanced lives—with style.”
The strength of Lucy—which has stores nationwide—comes from a dismissal of the philosophy that one style fits every activity or body type. Pants in a comforting array of sizes are available in six different styles and three custom fabrics—lux, tech and flex. All have varying degrees of stretch. Tanks and shirts are available in longer lengths, so you’ll never have to worry about them riding up your back at yoga or Pilates.
Rounding out the selection: hoodies, half-zip pullovers, and layering tees and tanks. There’s also a travel-ready collection of pants, vests and jackets with wrinkle-resistant fabric. Accessories include stylish gym bags, pouches for MP3 players, hats, and adorable yoga socks (toes are exposed for added traction on the mat).
