We Ask Suzie Gaffney for Wardrobe Advice

Kennett Square is buzzing with style and how to rock out with leather accents.

Favorite designers: I love Vince for casual, and Parker for great tops. But I’m open to all labels. I shop for myself and my clients everywhere—T.J. Maxx, Target, small boutiques and consignment shops. I like to be able to put together looks at all price points, without looking at the label.

Where she shops: For beautiful sweaters, tops and dresses, I love the Elizabeth Maar and Just Girls boutiques in Newtown Square and Haverford. Kennett Square is buzzing right now. Chantilly Blue is the best for denim; Ashley Austin has the most fabulous shoes and accessories. With the addition of Tribe Beauty Culture, you can get a whole new look, then go out for dinner and drinks, all on the same block.

Winter trends she loves: Leather accents make everyone look a little more “rock star.” I love the return of the ankle boot, because it gives a fresh silhouette to everything from jeans to dresses.

Style icons: I think Olivia Palermo always gets it right every place she goes, every single time. Also, Nellie Spoerl, owner of the Elizabeth Maar boutiques. I learned so much from her during the years I spent working in her shops.

Personal style: A little bohemian and a little glam, with a little edge. I like to put together unexpected combinations to mix it up.

Go-to casual outfit for a typical Saturday out: I love the shirts from the local No Belly Show line of tops. They’re perfect under a cozy cashmere sweater, paired with boots and leggings. I need my outfit to be comfortable and functional, so I can run around with my family.

Go-to outfit for a Saturday night in the city: Dark denim, a little black jacket over a blouse or T-shirt, a statement piece of jewelry from DeChic Boutique, and fun heels. The jewelry is always the icing on the cake because it personalizes the outfit.

Must-have splurges: Jackets and blazers. They complete any look and make me feel pulled together.

Favorite item in her closet: It’s a three-way tie: a gold charm bracelet that was my grandmothers, snakeskin over-the-knee boots that were a gift from my husband, and a vintage silver beaded top from India that I found at Greene Street Consignment.

Must-read blogs: Cupcakes and Cashmere, Atlantic-Pacific, The Coveteur. And, of course, there’s my own Suziegaffney.com. I love to hear that I helped make it a little easier for someone to get dressed.Mawr have a lot of the designers I love. I wish I had time to go on personal shopping trips, but it’s usually on buying trips where I do most of my shopping—or on vacation.
