Among Main Liners, the trend of snubbing the new in favor of vintage home furnishings and décor is showing no signs of slowing. Thanks to Vintage Now, shoppers have yet another place to feed their fix. Sisters-in-law Kerri Farragut and Amy Tyrrell are the two behind this enormous converted space inside a former Norristown pasta factory.
Open since May, it’s receiving plenty of positive buzz among local interior designers and homeowners alike, thanks to its fantastic selection. The inventory is arranged vignette style to help customers visualize how the pieces might work in their homes. “My taste is more eclectic, and Amy’s leans more traditional,” says Farragut.
The duo travels to estate sales, antique shops and auctions for their treasures. On a recent outing, they scored a set of Lucite barstools, an antique bar-height altar table, a pair of brass giraffes, and a ceramic Victorian umbrella stand. Farragut’s favorite recent find? “Two mid-century pottery lamps with seagrass drum shades,” she says. “They’ll be perfect in someone’s Shore house.”
Vintage Now is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays and by appointment. One evening a month, it also hosts an open house.
