The wait is finally over for two new breweries—Locust Lane Craft Brewery and Wissahickon Brewing Company will both open for business on April 1.
Locust Lane Craft Brewery, located at 50 Three Tun Road, was founded and self-funded by Tom Arnold, Bryan Brockson and Jason Cartwright, all Penn State alums. The 5,200-square-foot production brewery will run on a 15-barrel system. The space also includes a 1,300-square-foot tasting room, with food provided by a rotating list of food trucks.
The opening tap list will feature Locust Lane’s Founding Four beers, an ESB, an IPA, a pale ale and a stout. The brewery will open at 11 a.m. on April 1. For more information and to get a sneak video peak, visit Locust Lane on Facebook.
Also opening on April 1, at 2 p.m. is Wissahickon Brewing Company, located at 3705 W. School House Lane. Wissahickon Brewing is a family business owned by Tim Gill, his wife Lisa, and their four children, Tim, Meg, Luke and Pete. The elder Tim started as a home brewer several years ago after receiving a kit for Father’s Day.
Some past Wissahickon brews include Kelpius Kave (Belgian strong ale), Czech, Please! (Bohemian pilsner), Devil’s Pool (Imperial IPA) and Ole Wiss’ (American pale ale).
