The Imperfect Leader
Davis H. Taylor
(AuthorHouse, 143 pages)

As founder and leader of TAI Incorporated, a Yardley-based consulting company that specializes in maximizing leadership effectiveness and developing high-performance teams for its clients, entrepreneur Davis H. Taylor has accrued a long list of valuable insights—all of which he shares in this well-crafted read. A pragmatic work of fiction, The Imperfect Leader outlines a clear formula for establishing values-based leadership in any company, no matter how large or small. A must for anyone who wants to be large and in charge in the business world.

Sobriety Kills
Jason Karaban (Ascend, jasonkaraban.net)

On his second full-length CD, that embrace comes in the form of ample hooks, punchy arrangements, and the perfect balance of snarky, self-depreciating wit and earnest singer/songwriter angst. Apparently, Karaban has made some friends on the West Coast: WXPN favorite Ani DiFranco sings and plays on one track, and Toad the Wet Sprocket’s Glen Phillips co-wrote two. File under world-weary, Beatlesque pop.

Architecture and Artifacts of the Pennsylvania Germans
Cynthia Falk (Penn State University Press, 256 pages)

Local history and architecture buffs will devour this information-packed look at the buildings, personal belongings and other cultural artifacts of 18th-century Pennsylvania Germans. A labor of love for its author, the book features some terrific black-and-white photographs of homes, churches and functional art (like the ornate, baroque pewter candlesticks made by a Lancaster-based pewterer), accompanied by a fair amount of local history.
