These Local High Schools Took Top Spots on the U.S. News Annual Report

U.S. News and World Report recently released its 2019 Best High School rankings, and, once again, Main Line and western suburbs schools were ranked highly for both the state and the country. The annual list uses data like graduation rates, standardized test scores and underserved student performance to rank more than 17,000 public high schools throughout the United States.

One local school, Downingtown STEM Academy, even cracked the top 100 high schools in the country. That institution, which opened in 2011, was ranked second in the state and 39^th nationally. Downingtown STEM, which is part of the Downingtown Area School District, enrolls 791 students in grades 9-12, with a 100 percent graduation rate.

In total, 25 local high schools were ranked in the top 100 for Pennsylvania, out of 688 total schools. They include:

Downingtown STEM Academy (Downingtown Area School District): 2^nd in the state and 29^th in the country

Radnor High School (Radnor Township School District): 3^rd in the state and 237^th in the country

Conestoga High School (Tredyffrin-Easttown School District): 5^th in the state and 298^th in the country

Strath Haven High School (Wallingford-Swarthmore School District): 6^th in the state and 323^rd in the country

Unionville High School (Unionville-Chadds Ford School District): 7^th in the state and 329^th in the country

Great Valley High School (Great Valley School District): 22^nd in the state and 796^th in the country

Harriton High School (Lower Merion School District): 25^th in the state and 845^th in the country

Spring-Ford Senior High School (Spring-Ford Area School District): 26^th in the state and 939^th in the country

Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School (Colonial School District): 27^th in the state and 942^nd in the country

Lower Merion High School (Lower Merion School District): 28^th in the state and 961^st in the country

Downingtown High School East (Downingtown Area School District): 31^st in the state and 1,048^th in the country

Renaissance Academy Charter School (Renaissance Academy Charter School): 33^rd in the state and 1,093^rd in the country

Perkiomen Valley High School (Perkiomen Valley School District): 34^th in the state and 1,102^nd in the country

Haverford High School (Haverford Township School District): 35^th in the state and 1,110^th in the country

West Chester East High School (West Chester Area School District): 36^th in the state and 1,115^th in the country

Garnet Valley High School (Garnet Valley School District): 38^th in the state and 1,158^th in the country

Bayard Rustin High School (West Chester Area School District): 41^st in the state and 1,202^nd in the country

Henderson High School (West Chester Area School District): 46^th in the state and 1,301^st in the country

Upper Dublin High School (Upper Dublin School District): 54^th in the state and 1,445^th in the country

Methacton High School (Methacton School District): 59^th in the state and 1,658^th in the country

Penncrest High School (Rose Tree Media School District): 60^th in the state and 1,664^th in the country

Downingtown High School West (Downingtown Area School District): 65^th in the state and 1,831^st in the country

Kennett High School (Kennett Consolidated School District): 70^th in the state and 1,946^th in the country

Upper Merion High School (Upper Merion Area School District): 76^th in the state and 2,139^th in the country
