This refurbished Howard Johnson makes up for its initial motel vibe with plenty of boutique style and rock ’n’ roll attitude. The Verb’s rooms combine mid-century modern décor with details like vintage manual typewriters, record players, themed rock memorabilia and clever touches like a drummer’s stool at the in-room vanity. Just off the lobby, Hojoku offers an Asian-inspired menu and poolside service during the warmer months.
For a $75 fee, you can even bring your furry friends along to any of The Verb Hotel’s 103 guestrooms.
BATTER UP: For fans of rock and baseball, there’s no better location than The Verb Hotel. Historic Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, is just a block away. In fact, you’ll be able to hear the roar of the crowd and the sounds of the ballgame from your room during a game night. For some lucky visitors, your windows may even offer a view of the Fenway facade.

JERSEY AND LANSDOWNE STREETS: Just off the 112-year-old Fenway Park are Jersey and Lansdowne Streets, where fans, vendors and bars line the pavement and bring this historic district to life. Whether you’re looking for a ballcap, a hot dog or a beer, you’ll have everything within walking distance. In fact, many of the street food carts make their own special sauces, so don’t get too stuffed before getting into the ballpark. The Bleacher Bar even has a view into the ballpark at centerfield, though you might need a reservation.
