The Main Line's Most Stylish Women: Kara Allen, Director of Wayne's Advanced Marketing, inRecruit

A closet full of jeans, with nothing to wear? A rotating shoe rack might solve Allen’s fashion dilemma.

When Kara Allen first moved into her Wayne home with husband Malik, she knew the two modest walk-in closets in the master bedroom wouldn’t accommodate their wardrobes. So she had a builder transform a spare bedroom into a massive walk-in closet. “He likes fashion as much as I do,” says Allen of her spouse, a former NBA forward. “Due to his size, his clothes and shoes are big and take up a lot of space.”

Style: “Casual but stylish. I’m a busy mom with two kids, and I’m constantly on the go, so I need to wear things that are functional. Most days, I’m going from meetings to picking up my kids at school to soccer practice, so I need my style to be transitional yet put together.”

Where she shops:Posh Collections in Malvern and Lululemon in Wayne and Ardmore. I also love Nordstrom for its shoe department.”

Designers in her closet: Vince, J Brand, Joie, Trina Turk, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, DVF, Frye, Stuart Weitzman, YSL, Steve Madden.

She has too many: Pairs of jeans. “But most days, I’m in jeans, so I feel like I can never have too many.”

She’d love to have: “A rotating shoe rack. Doesn’t every woman dream of having that?”

Most sentimental item: “My diamond tennis bracelet. My husband gave it to me when I turned 30 and gave birth to our first child—all in the same week. It was definitely a life-changing week.”

Item from a faraway place: “In 2008, I was fortunate enough to accompany my husband on a preseason NBA trip to China, where I picked up a classic piece of Louis Vuitton luggage. Through all of our years of moving, it has definitely served its purpose.”
