The Brandywine River Museum of Art Celebrates its 50th Anniversary

Plus, Longwood Gardens’ Summer of Spectacle features daily fountain shows through Sept. 30.

THE HALF-CENTURY MARK: The Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art is currently marking its 50th year with a full lineup of special events, including PNC Arts Alive First Sundays for Families on June 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free on this day of celebrating the beauty of art and nature. Tour the grounds of the museum, and try your hand at sketching some of the native plants and flowers.

OUTDOOR WONDERS: After a two-year $90 million revitalization, the Main Fountain Garden at Longwood Gardens had its grand unveiling last month. Through Sept. 30, Summer of Spectacle features a daily fountain show and illuminated evening shows on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Don’t leave without popping into the gift shop, where there’s an array of home and garden items, from glassware to gardening tools.
