Tashelle Darby-Wong, the founder and CEO of Irieveda Spice Blends in Malvern, shares her take on the importance of fashion.
Her Style: As a millennial mom and entrepreneur from a multicultural background, my style is a mix of exotic and modern elegance. I love chic, colorful and versatile outfits with an eclectic flair.
Her Fashion Roots: Fashion has played a part in helping me stay grounded in who I am. As a child, I watched in admiration as my grandmother would sew her dresses with the most exquisite fabrics. I would always thread the needle, which felt like the most important job. It made me feel so proud to see the final design of the dress when it was complete.
Style Motivation: Fashion allows us to share a part of who we are without even saying a word. From the design, color and feel of the fabric, we reveal hints about our style, personality and even our personal ambitions.
Indispensable Wardrobe Item: The perfect black yoga leggings with side pockets for when I’m on the go.
Favorite Places to Shop: I can always find unique pieces at Anthropologie, Shop Sixty Five in Doylestown and Posh Collections in Malvern.
Fashion Icon: From Pretty Woman to Eat Pray Love, Julia Roberts’ evolution is flawless.
Best Fashion Find: I love collecting artisan jewelry. My favorite is a pair of damascene earrings I purchased in Spain.
Thoughts on Aging: Age is a reflection of who we are after all the life lessons we’ve experienced. No matter how “old” I am, I’ll always be positive, fun-loving and ready for the next adventure.
Indispensable Accessory: My Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote.
Makeup Tips Every Women Can Appreciate: I live by the philosophy “less is more.” A bit of blush and mascara do wonders. My go-to mascara is Essence Lash Princess.
Favorite Fragrance: I love the depth and balanced floral summer notes of Aerin Ikat Jasmine.
Fashion No-No: Socks with sandals.
Why Fashion Matters: It helps us tell our story while creating a connection with people around us. It’s a way to reflect mindfully and creatively on who you are and what you’re feeling, while gracefully showing up in the world.
