In New York, Westchester County has long been a favorite destination for the rich and famous. Set on 26 stunning acres along the Hudson River, Tarrytown House Estate’s two 19th-century mansions once belonged to B&O Railroad executive Thomas M. King, American Tobacco Company founder William R. Harris, and diplomat Joseph Drexel Biddle Jr. and his heiress wife, Mary Duke Biddle. A popular place for conventions, weddings and myriad other events, several years ago the property underwent a $15 million refresh.
THE LUSH LIFE: Built around 1840, Tarrytown House Estate’s King Mansion has 10 rooms furnished in Georgian-era style. More than 200 other rooms and suites feature marble baths, custom millwork and 300-thread-count linens. The mansion’s Goosefeather restaurant is a staple of New York high cuisine. Reviewed on the Michelin Guide, the restaurant invites guests to enjoy celebrity chef Dale Talde’s unique take on traditional Cantonese cuisine with a special in-room dining menu. The pet-friendly estate offers numerous amenities, including indoor and outdoor pools.

A DAY OUT: Lyndhurst Mansion is always near the top of the list for Tarrytown’s top attractions. This Gothic Revival estate sits atop a 67-acre park and is designated a National Historic Landmark. Owned by wealthy New York City businessmen and railroad tycoons for over a century until the 1960s, it now hosts daily tours and events for the public. Featured in film and TV in dozens of shows and movies, it recently hosted the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on its grounds in 2021 and 2022.
