Fashion awakening: I’ve wanted to have my own store and design my own dresses since I was 5 years old. My parents let me dress myself; I always wanted to look unique.
Fall trends she loves: Sweaters with lace cutouts by the collar. Instead of leather patches on the elbows, it will be lace or crochet. A lot of burgundy, reds and pinks. Pink is a year-round color now, not just spring or summer.
The scoop on her label: Lila Ila means “playful earth” in Sanskrit. My clothes are eco-friendly and locally made.
Preventable fashion faux pas: Ill-fitting clothes. If your clothes aren’t tailored properly, you’ll look dowdy no matter how expensive your outfit is.
Her favorite accessory: A big statement necklace. It’s brass with a big deer head—very quirky. I found it in Los Angeles and bought a few for the store. I liked it so much that I kept one for myself. I throw it on, and it completely changes the look of a little black dress.
Go-to outfit for a night on the town: If it’s with the girls, rompers, bangles, really high heels and a clutch. If it’s with my boyfriend, I’ll wear a little cocktail dress—just above the knee, no shorter. It’s the perfect length.
