As the leader of highly influential mod-rock trio the Jam and R&B-flavored, early-MTV favorite the Style Council, Weller paved the way for many more successful acts with names you’ve probably heard of before—Oasis among them. Now in his 50s, he has continued to stay relevant with a recent spate of edgy, excellent music, including last year’s Sonik Kicks. Forget Dr. Seuss. As a kid, I couldn’t get enough of the Berenstain Bears. So, my inner child was thrilled with this new interactive Financial Literacy Center exhibit. Designed by Philadelphia’s Metcalfe Architecture & Design, the iconic bear family’s tree house has engaging features like “Piggy Bank Pinball,” where grade-schoolers can “help the cubs decide how to use their money wisely.” It’s never too early to start teaching kids about fiscal management (and I know a few adults who could benefit, as well).
