Whether you’re already planning a post-Thanksgiving agenda or need a treat after a holiday with the in-laws, here is one wine event you won’t want to miss.
On Sunday, Nov. 29, at 5:30 p.m., Conshohocken’s French darling, Spring Mill Cafe, will host an expert wine pairing and tasting led by the charismatic Hudson Austin of The Wine Merchant. The esteemed sommelier is a modern-day wine educator who far surpasses dated wine-tasting stereotypes, making discovering new wine varieties not only delicious, but fun.
His upcoming five-pour, four-course affair will kick off with a bubbly toast of the French Simonet Blanc de Blancs, followed by finely curated rounds with food perfected by chef Michele Haines. The courses are as follows:
â—Seared sea scallop with citrus beurre blanc and caramelized fennel, paired with Idaho’s Sawtooth Pinot Gris
â—Chicken confit cassoulet, paired with Slovenia’s Avia Pinot Noir 2010
â—Lancaster blue cheese with quince paste and toast points, paired with a second pour of Slovenia’s Avia Pinot Noir 2010
â—Poached apples with chocolate shavings and caramel whipped cream, paired with Blandy’s Alvada Five-Year Madeira
Cost is $68 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Reservations are required. Call Spring Mill Cafe at (610) 828-2550 to reserve your space.
