Media will represent the United States’ Mid-Atlantic region at the Little League World Series this August.
In the world of sports, it’s not often a small community gets represented on a big stage. We’re all used to professional sports teams on our TVs from major cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and the like. But this summer, Delco will have a baseball team playing on the biggest stage when Media heads to the Little League World Series in August.
From Brno, Czechia to Fargo, ND and Willemstad, Curacao to Gray, ME, 20 teams from across the globe will compete for the Little League World Series title beginning Wednesday, August 16. As the United States’ Mid-Atlantic representative, Media Little League will be the second team to represent the Philadelphia area since Mo’ne Davis and Taney Little League made headlines in 2014.
During the 2021 competition, Upper Providence Little League from Oaks, PA, bounced from the tournament after losing their first two games 8-2, then 5-3 to Oregon and Louisiana, respectively.
Media Little League, however, will look to more closely follow the path blazed by Taney. That team won its first two games but was eliminated in the U.S. Lower Final by Illinois, which was ultimately stripped of its U.S. title after fielding players from outside local boundaries.
In what was a nail-biting qualifier on Friday, first baseman and pitcher Trevor Skowronek broke up Washington D.C.’s no-hitter in the seventh inning with a walk-off home run, sending the Delco club and its fans into raptures.

With what will surely be the most exciting two weeks of their lives for these 10- to 12-year-olds, the fun is just beginning. Held in the small town of Williamsport, PA, this is nearly a home game for Media Little League, especially compared to the clubs traveling from Europe, Asia and Latin America.
To win this double-elimination tournament, Media must not lose more than one game while winning at least six games (or seven, it loses a game in the first four rounds).
Media will play its first game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Needville, TX. Depending on the TV schedule, viewers will be able to catch the contest on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
