Like most women, Sherri and Jennifer Guggenheim would never pass up a chance to work alongside gorgeous shoes and handbags on a daily basis. So when the mother-and-daughter team decided to venture into retail, they knew exactly the sort of boutique they wanted to open.
New to the Glen Eagle Shopping Center this summer, Vivi G. displays its handbags and jewelry like artwork. “I wanted to design the boutique like you were walking into a really pretty closet,” says Sherri of the meticulous space.
A very large, to-die-for walk-in closet, that is. With its gold-framed full-length mirrors, chandeliers, flat-screen TV and a seating area with cream-colored plush seating, Vivi G. is the place where shoppers can escape for some much-needed “me” time. As if the atmosphere and the merchandise weren’t enough, there’s the mantra, “Cinderella is proof that a pair of shoes can change your life.”
The more than 20 brands at Vivi G. are the sort you’d expect to find at high-end boutiques in New York. Beverly Feldman loafers, Stiletto Rx boots, flats from FS/NY, Lily Holt eveningwear styles and Betsey Johnson heels are among the names you’ll be lusting over. Vivi G. also stocks the exclusive Ann Roth label. No other boutique in the state carries the line, which includes a gorgeous raspberry platform pump (pictured).
Along with fabulous handbags from Rebecca Minkoff, Kara James, Kooba and Botkier, the boutique has its own private collection made in Italy. “The store is really fun,” says Guggenheim. “I’ve surrounded myself with wonderful employees and clients. I love coming to work every day.”
