A Shout-Out

Congrats to Drexelbrook Catering & Corporate Events Center for being named one of five finalists in our region (and the only one from the Philadelphia area) for the Achievement in Catering Excellence Award.

In the News

It won’t be long now before we know if Blackfish’s Chip Roman was named Food & Wine’s “The People’s Best New Chef 2011: Mid-Atlantic.” He was nominated with three Philly chefs.

Big Changes

A la Maison chef Darlene Moseng has headed to Seattle to develop a restaurant and catering business. She’ll remain the owner of the Ardmore-based French bistro, with Mike Stollenwerk (Fish, Little Fish) coming aboard as a consultant. And Manayunk’s new addition, Main Street Market, is expanding and taking over the recently closed Saxbys. (More of that delicious bread, please.)

Two Is Better Than One

Looks like April 18 will be a big day around here. It marks the projected opening date of John Brandt-Lee’s second BYOB, Avalon’s Pasta Bistro, in Downingtown. Diners can expect plenty of homemade pasta (of course), flatbreads and one heck of an antipasto platter.
