News & Notes

» No looking back: Maia may have hit the skids, but restaurateur Scott Morrison most certainly has not. Never one to wallow, Morrison is poised for yet another culinary outing not far from his previous venture’s Villanova digs. The menu leans toward European-American comfort food, and there will be an actual lounge (not just a landing strip with bar stools) serving tapas and other specialty fare, craft brews, and food-friendly wines. At press time, there were no details on its name or when it will open.

» Twice the spice: First we had the Thai invasion, now apparently it’s India’s turn. Tiffin (tiffinstore.com) is rumored to be opening outposts in Wynnewood and Bryn Mawr by the end of the year. Emphasizing affordability and convenience, this Philly-born eatery’s concept centers around home delivery of its prepackaged, ready-to-eat tikka masalas, tandoors, vindaloos, roganjoshes and more. The Bryn Mawr location will offer eat-in dining. No word yet on the setup at Wynnewood Shopping Center.

» New noshes: Berwyn’s Main Street Café is now officially Baxter’s Black Sheep Saloon (main-st-cafe.com); Venice Pizza & Pasta (venicepizzapasta.com) has taken over Saxby’s old space in Malvern; and in Paoli, Rocco’s Steaks has replaced Tradewinds Coffee in Motion.
