Q&A: Tesoro Design’s Brittany Reed

The co-founder/designer shares her personal style.

Favorite designers: My all-time favorite is Alexander McQueen. I grew up watching his shows online and obsessing over every new collection. At fashion school, I was constantly striving to design clothes in a way that he would appreciate. I am also a huge fan of Donna Karan. She revolutionized women’s fashion, specifically what women wear to work, and I look up to her as a fellow entrepreneur.

Style icons: I would have to say Farrah Fawcett, with her love of all things high-waisted and ’70s, and Katharine Hepburn, because of her mastery of all things tailored.

Personal style: Functional and tailored, with lots of fun prints. I’m on my feet all day, making handbags or talking with clients, so my footwear has to be comfortable and my clothing has to allow me to move.

Favorite items in her closet: My many handmade Tesoro Design handbags. I also recently invested in the most gorgeous 1970s squash blossom necklace, and I wear it with everything short of my gym clothes.

Item in her closet that gets the most wear: I have carefully curated around 20 pairs of vintage Levi’s in all shapes and sizes, and I wear them almost every day.

Wish-list item: I’m currently obsessing over Llani shoes by local shoe designer and fellow girlboss Alana Oates.

Most recent additions to her closet: A pair of flare jeans from Zara and a great pair of custom hair-on-hide Chelsea boots that I have been waiting on since Black Friday.

Favorite local boutiques: Tish in West Chester and No. 109 in Kennett Square. They both carry great everyday staples and fun dresses with great prints, and they have the sweetest owners.
