Pope’s Itinerary Includes a Main Line Visit

The Vatican figure will make a stop in Wynnewood on his Philly tour.

Pope Francis’ schedule for the World Meeting of Families has just been released, and it features the Main Line prominently. On Sept. 27 at 9:15 a.m., Pope Francis is scheduled to meet with bishops at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood. Although the visit will be brief (he is expected in northeast Philadelphia by 11 a.m.) he will become only the fifth Pope to visit the Main Line. According to the seminary, which is the oldest Catholic organization of higher learning in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Popes Pius XII, Paul VI, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI also paid visits.

The highlight of the Pope’s visit is the Festival of Families and the mass he will lead on Sunday, Sept. 27 on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Included in the event are musical performances from Andrea Bocelli, Juanes and the Philadelphia Orchestra, among others. For more information, visit www.worldmeeting2015.org.
