Grammy Award-winning rapper Pitbull will headline this year’s Wawa Welcome America July 4th Concert and Fireworks, organizers announced Monday morning. The Cuban-American star is best known for hits “Timber,” “International Love” and “Feel This Moment.”
“This year will really be a ‘Party on the Parkway’ with Pitbull’s music and positive energy,” says Welcome America, Inc. president and CEO, Jeff Guaracino.
Also performing at the concert, taking place from 7-10 p.m. on July 4, will be fellow Grammy Award winner Heather Headley, who originated the role of Nala in The Lion King on Broadway. In addition to her July 4 performance, Headley will take the stage as part of the POPS on Independence concert on July 3.
The star power, with a nod to Broadway, is in keeping with last year’s headliners, multi-platinum recording artist Mary J. Blige and Mandy Gonzalez of Hamilton.
The festival, now in its 26th year, will take place from June 28-July 4 and will feature 50 free events throughout Philadelphia. It will be capped by a fireworks display following the concert.
Additional festival details will be announced in the coming months.
