Winter might not seem like the ideal time to visit a beer garden, but Malvern’s General Warren Inne is teaming up with Media’s Sterling Pig Brewery for a winter garden beer and food pairing on Jan. 22 that just might change your mind.
The evening will start off at 6 p.m. on General Warren Inne’s heated Springhouse Terrace patio for exotic charcuterie hors d’oeuvres from Alchemy Sausage Works. There will be a meet-and-greet with Sterling Pig brewer Brian McConnell and chefs Jonathan Fahey and Joshua Smith.
After the tasting, a four-course dinner featuring elk, quail, venison and boar will be served in a private dining room. The meal will be accompanied by several Sterling Pig beers—some that were brewed specifically for this collaboration. Here’s a peek at the menu:
Charcuterie Reception on the Terrace
Blood orange IPA sausage, bresaola, dry-aged duck confit rillette, Gruyère, aged Gouda and accoutrements
First Plate
Seared confit quail, purple sweet potato puree, micro salad with quail egg, roast glacé
Second Plate
Braised wild boar belly, bordelaise ravioli, roasted Beech mushrooms, glazed baby brussels sprouts
Third Plate
Elk bratwurst, grilled petite venison tenderloin, chestnut spaetzle, pickled cabbage and cherries, truffle demi-glace
Dessert Plate
Blood orange and date pudding, caramel brittle, chocolate sauce
General Warren proprietor, Patrick Byrne, will complement the evening with a talk about the background of the inn, its place in U.S. history and how beers and ales were an important beverage staple during the General Warren’s infancy.
Tickets for the dinner are $50 per person, plus tax and gratuity. For more information or to make a reservation, call (610) 296-3637. There will be a limited number of growlers available for purchase at the end of the event.
