Paige Sullivan’s unique hand-sewn designs can be found at her boutiques and sewing studios on the Main Line and Jersey Shore.

Opened in 2015 as a sewing studio, Christine Shirley quickly became a go-to spot for classes, camps and birthday parties. In 2018, Sullivan expanded the growing boutique and her own line of handmade apparel. Last year, she opened another Christine Shirley location in Stone Harbor, N.J.

Her style: I love mixing patterns and combining layers into easy clothing. My goal is to have things that fit, but aren’t super tailored. I like soft fabrics and things that make people feel good when they touch them.

First inspiration: I started sewing when I was 8. My mom taught me the basics on my grandmother’s machine. As a kid, I had side hustles making scrunchies, T-shirts and other things. It was fun—I loved it.

The name of her business: It’s my middle name, Christine, and Shirley is the name of the street I grew up on. People usually call me Christine, and I answer them.

Local shops she loves: Velvet Shoestring, Zoet Bathlatier, joeyfivecents, Painted Lily, Candace’s Canvases.

What’s next: At the Wayne store, we’re doing shopping experiences. Every month, we transform the décor and merchandise to reflect a new theme. Then we open for one week. It’s fun for us to be creative and offer customers small, safe shopping events.
