News & Notes

» Out with the old, in with the new: A new menu, that is—from 333 Belrose chef Carlo deMarco. Highlights include jumbo lump crab cakes with a sweet-and-smoky poblano-corn sauce, and empanadas with mole-braised beef and smoked chicken. Among the new entrées: Caprese-style grilled shrimp and scallops with Roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil-pesto-grilled garlic bread, and wood-grilled Wagyu beef strip steak Oscar. We’ll take a round of sangria—and a seat on the patio—with that, please.

» Friday night fever: You can now get down at Conshy’s Stella Blu. Every Friday beginning at 10 p.m., DJ Gino spins classic disco, Motown and other favorites. Dance phobics can still have a good time sipping after-dinner drinks as they watch everyone else shake it.

» Impatient appetite: Philly gets a new restaurant every day, but we suburbanites have to wait … and wait … and wait. So my fingers are double-crossed that, by the time you read this, the long-anticipated grand opening of Maia in Villanova will have come and gone, along with Bruce Cooper’s (Jake’s) Brick Oven Wine Bar in Manayunk and Alison Two in Blue Bell.
