Make 2014 a culinary year to remember by jump-starting your dining-out routine with smart dinner selections. Our leading eating recommendation is to secure a seat at West Chester’s New Street Catering and Golden Valley Farms Coffee Roasters first annual Winter Harvest Soiree.
Unfolding Fri., Jan. 10, from 6–8:30 p.m., at Golden Valley’s HQ (also home of the Artisan Exchange), the event will feature a locally sourced, seasonal tasting prepared by New Street’s chefs Mary Wongvuong and Jeremy Smith.
The Friday night feast will kick off with a round of enticing hors d’oeuvres including cinnamon tuna on a toasted lotus root, red wine-poached pears with lemon goat cheese, and pistachio-crusted pork tenderloin with apricot chutney atop rutabaga chips.
The cocktail hour will be followed by a family-style session that’ll throw winter’s harvest in the limelight through six courses. Seasonal dishes to include:
â—    Grilled endive salad with persimmons, blood orange, feta cheese and toasted pistachios served with champagne shallot vinaigrette
â—     Malbec glazed duck breast over caramelized apples and kale
â—    Pumpkin gnocchi with toasted sage and hazelnut
â—    Saffron cauliflower with pine nuts and golden raisins
â—    Sweet potato au gratin with nutmeg and Gruyere cheese
â—     Massie’s sweet butter cake with rustic lemon gelato
The winter harvest experience will be elevated by beverages provided by Boxcar Brewing Co., Penns Woods Winery and Golden Valley Farms Coffee Roasters.
Seats at the harvest soiree are $75 per person. Book your reservations by calling 610-436-3130 or by emailing NewStreetCatering@wcupa.edu. Golden Valley is located at 208 Carter Drive in West Chester.
